Watch: Yemeni missile attack on Saudi Arabia bears hallmark of Iranian weapons, says Nikki Haley

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday reportedly intercepted a missile fired by Yemeni rebels over Riyadh, the US later said it "bears all the hallmarks of previous attacks using Iranian-provided weapons."

Reports quoting the rebels said the target was Yamamah palace, the official residence of King Salman.

"We must all act cooperatively to expose the crimes of the Tehran regime and do whatever is needed to make sure they get the message. If we do not, then Iran will bring the world deeper into a broadening regional conflict," Haley told the UN Security Council.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.

"Thankfully the missile was intercepted before it could hit its intended target. But the very fact of this attack is a flashing red siren for this council," US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said.

Video footage released by Houthi military media Centre showed missile being launched from an unidentified location in Yemen.

"We could explore sanctions on Iran in response to its clear violations of the Yemen arms embargo," Haley said. "We could hold the IRGC (Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) accountable for its violations of numerous Security Council resolutions," Haley added.
