Iran intends not to ring any alarm bells with the US

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani today said that they will either bypass United States sanctions or find a solution through deliberations.

He added that his country intends not to ring any alarm bells with the US.

"The government is determined to defeat (the enemy) by bypassing America's sanctions...or through various means including talks, but we will not cross our red lines," Iranian news agency ISNA quoted Rouhani as saying.

Ever since US President Donald Trump pulled out of the 2015 Nuclear Deal, tensions have soared between the two countries. The sanctions put forward by the US have slowed down Iran's oil-based economy.

On Saturday, as a gesture of cooperation, both the US and Iran recently freed a prisoner each.

After the release, US officials claimed that this could set a precedent for more prisoner swaps between the two countries in the future. Additionally, the US statement added that it was a positive sign and signified that Tehran was willing to discuss more issues.

Xiyue Wang, a US citizen who was held in Iran for three years on charges of spying was released. The US, similarly, released Massoud Soleimani, who was facing charges of trespassing US sanctions against Iran.

Iran on Monday claimed that there are 20 Iranians in American prisons, with cases linked to sanction violations.

According to Iran, talks between the two countries are possible only if Trump administration reverses its stance on the nuclear pact followed by dismissal of sanctions.
