Several white locals in North Carolina washed feet of black priests during a prayer session held for George Floyd, it has sparked an online debate. 

The ritual was organised by pastors Faith and Soboma Wokoma in Cary, North Carolina, it was held to commemorate George Floyd. Floyd was killed after a white police officer in Minneapolis knelt on his knees. The killing sparked massive violent protests across the American cities. 

The protestors including activists of 'Black Lives Matter' observed eight minutes 46 seconds of silence, this is the same length of time when the white police officer knelt on Floyd's neck before he was killed. 

After observing silence, white police officers and other white attendees were seen kneeling before the priests and washing their feet. These pictures were widely circulated on social media. 

According to a biblical story, the "washing of feet" ceremony is held because Jesus used to cleanse his disciples' feet. It represents humility and love. But these pictures were not received well by many online users and fell victim to divisive comments.
