WhatsApp temporary outage hits users worldwide, issue resolved

WhatsApp on Tuesday evening experienced issue globally around 11:30 pm IST, leaving people unable to chat.
According to the website Down Detector, the problems were reported worldwide and on various platforms including iPhone and Android.
People were unable to log into the app at all and who did log in could not send or receive messages.
The issue was resolved within hours but the cause is yet unknown.

This issue comes a day after the messenger app limited the number of times a user can forward a message. Previously, a WhatsApp user could forward a message to 20 individuals or groups, not it has been restricted to five.
WhatsApp has around 1.5 billion users.
