We will send back travellers coming without 'business reason': Norway PM 

International travellers planning a trip to Norway without a business reason should think again following drastic action announced by the Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg today. 

Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg has said that travellers arriving in Norway without a business reason to come will be sent back.

“We’re discouraging people to leave Norway… If you don’t have a work reason to come to Norway, you will be sent back when you arrive in Norway these days,” she said.

"Norway is so in control of the infections that future localized outbreaks will be handled with intensive testing and specialized lockdowns,"  Solberg said.

“We have never been after the Second World War in a situation like this in Norway,” Solberg added.

Norway may decide to loosen restrictions imposed on leisure travel from other Nordic states - which include Denmark, Sweden, Iceland and Finland - by June 15, and will consider admitting travellers from selected other European countries by July 20.

Sweden, which shares a 1,630-km (1,000-mile) border with Norway, has adopted a mix of legislation and recommendations in response to the coronavirus pandemic, rather than declaring a full lockdown as seen in most of the rest of Europe.

Sweden has registered more than 3,500 coronavirus-linked deaths - a toll far lower than many large EU countries but around five times higher than Denmark and more than 10 times that of its other Nordic neighbours.
