Won't yield to this pressure, will survive and thrive: Iran on newly imposed US sanctions

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, during his meeting with his British counterpart Jeremy Hunt in Tehran on Monday, stated that Iran is used to pressuring and will survive the newly imposed US sanctions. 

He added that Tehran will resist the pressure imposed by the United States and will even thrive while surviving it. Zarif called for a political commitment from Britain on the nuclear deal. 

Britain's Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt was in Tehran on Monday on his first official visit in Tehran to hold talks with Iranian authorities on issues including the future of the 2015 nuclear deal.

"The Europeans should accelerate their efforts to save the deal...We are ready for all scenarios, including a return to pre-deal era," the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, told Hunt, Iranian state television reported.

Hunt said Britain was committed to the nuclear deal and discussed European efforts to maintain nuclear-related sanctions relief, Iran's state news agency IRNA reported.

"The Iran nuclear deal remains a vital component of stability in the Middle East by eliminating the threat of a nuclearised Iran. It needs 100 per cent compliance though to survive," Hunt said in a statement ahead of the visit.

The top diplomats also discussed the conflict in Yemen and other issues in meetings.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Monday said Tehran will continue to export oil despite US sanctions, news agency Reuters reported. 

"We will not yield to this pressure, which is part of the psychological war launched against Iran," Rouhani said in a speech in the city of Khoy, broadcast live on state television. 

"They have failed to stop our oil exports. We will keep exporting it ... Your regional policies have failed and you blame Iran for that failure from Afghanistan to Yemen and Syria," he added.
