Watch: North Korea leader Kim Jong Un becomes first to cross South since 1950-53 war

In a historic move, the North Korean President Kim Jong Un crossed the southern border to meet South Korean President Moon Jae-In at the Demilitarised Zone. 

The historic move has made the North Korean leader the first one to set foot in the South since the 1950-53 Korean War.

Kim Jong Un was greeted by Moon at the military demarcation line at 9:30 a.m where the two leaders crossed back into South Korea holding hands.

The North Korean leader was welcomed with flowers by South Korean boy and girl. He also received South Korean honour guard while his walk on the red carpet.

South Korean leader Moon was also asked to step briefly across the demarcation line into North Korea before the two leaders crossed back into South Korea.

The two leaders are meeting for a historic meeting that aims to discuss denuclearisation and exchanges between the two countries.

The summit between the two nations is being held after over a decade.
