US threats, sanctions and PR stunts won't work: Iran

As President Trump at a rally in Florida said talks with Iran will happen "pretty soon", Iran's foreign minister Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif dismissed it as "threats, sanctions and PR stunts won't work".
In a late night tweet, Zarif said: Iran and US had for two years, with the EU and E3 including Russia and China, we produced a unique multilateral accord - JCPOA, US can only blame itself for pulling out & leaving the table."
Two days ago President Trump had said he would be talking to the Iranian leadership without any precondition.
However, Iran's foreign minister said in his tweet that "threats, sanctions & PR stunts won’t work", directing the US administration to "respect Iranians and international commitments".
The Iranian foreign minister's reply comes as Trump last week hit out at Iran in an all-caps attack on Twitter not to threaten the US. Iranian president Rohani shot back saying US policies could lead to "the mother of all wars."
Meanwhile, Iran's currency took a hit with US sanctions imminent from August 6th. The Iranian rial lost almost two-thirds of its value since the start of 2018. It lost 20 per cent in just two days since last weekend, hitting a record-low of 119,000 to the dollar.
President Hassan Rouhani sacked the central bank chief last week, and his replacement, Abdolnassar Hemati, has promised new currency policies "in the coming days".
