US health expert warns coronavirus still has a long run

A public health expert says the new coronavirus still has a long run left, despite President Donald Trump's claim last week that it would go away without a vaccine.

Dr Tom Inglesby, the director of the Center for Health Security of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, said most of us are still susceptible to this virus.

Substantiating his assessment, Inglesy said the nation does not have sufficient testing or tracing the contacts of people who do test positive for the virus.

He said the dangers would increase as the businesses reopen and Americans start to resume normal activities -- with increased social interaction.

Inglesby also reacted to Trump's assertion that the virus simply will disappear, and said the virus will stay as a background problem in the country and around the world until a vaccine has been found.

The number of positive coronavirus cases globally has crossed the 4 million mark as the total cases reported are nearly 4,026,691.

As many as 2,76,894 people have lost their lives due to the deadly virus.
