Donald Trump recently expressed his support for the ongoing terror-war in Egypt. According to reports, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call from his US counterpart Donald on Sunday.

The two leaders discussed regional issues and relevant developments, especially in connection to the deteriorating regional situation in the country.

In addition to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Middle Eastern countries like Yemen, Syria, Libya and Iraq also grapple with ongoing crises.

The Egypt-US ties witnessed improvements after President Donald Trump assumed office. However, the country rejects Trump's move to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to relocate Washington's embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv.

Egypt identifies as a US ally; the country receives an annual military aid of $1.3 billion from Washington. The two countries signed the 1979 US-sponsored peace treaty.
