Trump pledges 'love and support' to Pittsburgh synagogue victims on Hannukah

US President Donald Trump on Sunday sent greetings to the world's Jews on the first day of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, while pledging "love and support" for the victims of an attack on a Pittsburgh synagogue in October.

"Melania and I send our warmest greetings to our Jewish brothers and sisters in the United States, in Israel, and around the world celebrating Hanukkah," Trump, whose daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner are Jewish, said in a statement.

"We remember all those from the Tree of Life —- Or L'Simcha Congregation -- whose lives were tragically taken in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, this past October.

"As one Nation, we pledge our continued love and support for the victims, their families, and the community, and we pray that the victims' families find some measure of peace and comfort during this holiday season."

Every year, the White House lights a giant menorah over the festival's eight days.
