Donald Trump accused Bolton of breaking the law by divulging 'highly classified information'

The US administration is continuing its efforts to block the release of ex-national security advisor John Bolton's book, the latest being US Justice Department filing an emergency order on Wednesday.

The justice department said that Bolton moved forward with the book's release ahead of the completion of the national security review process, and "plans to disseminate classified information as he sees fit in order to profit from his book."

On Wednesday too, Trump made similar claims, accusing the ex-NSA of breaking the law by divulging "highly classified information".

Bolton's new book has made stunning claims about Trump and excerpts of it are leaked in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal.

One of the highlights of these claims was that Trump pleaded to China to help him win re-election.

The ex-NSA mentioned the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Trump last June, in which the former "stunningly turned the conversation to the US presidential election, alluding to China's economic capability to affect the ongoing campaigns, pleading with Xi to ensure he'd win".

The leaks also said that the US president favoured dictators and praised Xi for China's internment camps.

Bolton was a part of Trump administration but resigned from the office of NSA last September after spending 17 months due to his disagreements with Trump.
