Tech giants like Google, Amazon join hands in legal move against net neutrality rollback?

Some of the most powerful US tech firms have joined hands to pursue legal efforts planned against the rollback of net neutrality. 

The Federal Commission repealed net neutrality last month under the leadership of Chairman Ajit Pai.

The Internet Association -- which includes tech giants like Google, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft among others -- has decided to extended legal support to block the rollback endorsed by the FCC. 

Michael Beckerman, President, Internet Association,  said FCC's move "defies the will of a bipartisan majority of Americans and fails to preserve a free and open internet."

He said the association "intends to act as an intervenor in judicial action against this order and, along with member companies, will continue to restore strong, enforceable net neutrality protections through a legislative solution."

Lawsuits could not be filed until the FCC's order was published, which occurred this week. Some lawmakers have also begun efforts to invalidate the FCC's action. 

The net neutrality rules were passed by the Obama administration in the year 2015 to prevent internet service providers from manipulating connection to certain websites -- especially the ones in paid-partnerships with the carriers.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has spoken in favour of free and non-discriminating internet space.
