Spain records the lowest death toll since March 20.

Spain was one of the worst-hit countries in Europe. However, the country reported the lowest daily death toll, of 164 people, since March 18.

Spaniards lived the best of these two days of the weekend, as the country eased out restrictions of lockdown. Healthy adults were allowed to head outdoors to play sports and take walks for the first time in seven weeks.

From surfing to taking a stroll, to soaking the summer sun in parks, locals were spotted making the best out of the new-found freedom.

Spain’s nearly 47 million people have since March 14 lived under one of the strictest virus lockdowns in the world, with only adults authorised to leave home to buy food, medicine or walk the dog.

The new guidelines of eased out lockdown have made face masks compulsory and it is mandatory to stay at a staying at least 2 metres distance away from each other, to maintain social distancing. Different age groups have also been assigned different time slots when they can go outdoors for a walk.

However, to avoid crowding on beaches, Barcelona`s city council has barred entry to its urban beaches. Madrid, too, closed its parks and other large public spaces, forcing runners and walkers to share narrow pavements and walkways.

This plan is a part of the four-phase plan of Spanish government to gradually reopen the country by the end of June.

However, Health Emergency Chief Fernando Simon has warned people against another possible outbreak in the next few months.
