Ten people, including one suspect, killed and at least 16 others injured in a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, police have confirmed.

Authorities gave no details about the circumstances of the shooting except that it occurred in the city's Oregon District, an historic neighborhood known for its nightclubs, bars, art galleries and shops, reported news agency Reuters.

The Dayton Daily News said the shooting occurred at or near an establishment called Ned Pepper's Bar in Dayton's Oregon District.

"The shooter is deceased. There are nine others also deceased. At least 16 others went to area hospitals with injuries," the police department said on Twitter.

The police and emergency response personnel were called in.

Paramedics rushed the injured to nearby hospitals.

The police are reportedly combing the area for additional shooting victims, the report added.

This latest mass shooting comes mere hours after another one in El Paso, Texas which claimed the lives of 20.
