Saudi Arabia has crossed the 100,000-mark in coronavirus cases after witnessing a spike in recent weeks.

The middle eastern country reported 3,045 new cases on Sunday taking the tally to 101,914 which included 712 deaths. The number exceeded 3,000 for the first time on Saturday.
Saudi Arabia recorded its first case for coronavirus on March 2 and the country's health ministry predicted cases between 10,000 to 200,000 in April. On May 16, a country of 30 million people recorded 50,000 cases of coronavirus.
Among the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that has 272,625 cases and 1406 deaths, Saudi's numbers are the highest.
Coronavirus infections in the energy-producing region had initially been linked to travel. But despite taking early measures to combat the virus, Gulf states have seen a spread among low-income migrant workers living in cramped quarters, prompting authorities to ramp up testing.
