Protesters in Seattle stormed the City Hall on Thursday and demanded the resignation of the city's mayor amid calls for defunding the police department.
The protesters have reportedly declared “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” in six blocks which have allegedly been abandoned by the police. The demonstrations come after the large scale anger spilled over to the streets following the death of African-American George Floyd by a policeman in Minneapolis.
George Floyd was buried on Wednesday in Houston as people mourned across the United States.
Seattle has just banned police officers from being on school property.

The Superintendant said police presence will keep staff/students from feeling "fully safe."

There were reports of clashes between protesters and police in some areas in Seattle. The demonstrators have been calling for the resignation of mayor Jenny Durkan as they marched from Capitol Hill to Seattle City Hall.
According to reports, a Seattle city council member Kshama Sawant opened the hall leading the protesters to rush in. There have been large scale demonstrations throughout the United States ever since the killing of George Floyd on May 25 with some protests becoming increasingly violent.
