Obidos's chocolate fair is not a regular one, the Portuguese town displayed the priciest chocolate last night at the fair.

Priced at 7,728 euros ($9,489), the limited edition bonbons were covered in edible gold and filled saffron threads, white truffle, vanilla from Madagascar and gold flakes.

The precious pockets of sweetness were guarded by two uniformed men.

Daniel Gomes, the creator of the chocolates, noted that his diamond-shaped creation was certified as the world's most expensive by the Guinness Book of Records.
