According to reports, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas can remain in the hospital for the next few days due to a lung infection. Abbas, 82, was admitted to hospital for the third time in less than a week on May 20 in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Abbas was reported having visited the hospital for medical tests after an ear surgery five days earlier. On Monday night reports informed that the veteran leader suffered from a lung infection.

The 83-year-old leader was hospitalised on Sunday at the Istishari Arab Hospital near Ramallah. 

Abbas, reportedly, is a heavy smoker and has a history of several health issues related to the heart.
