It has been 90 years since the Hollywood’s biggest awards’ night, Oscars has existed and it’s only grown bigger in scale.

From dictating sartorial choices on the red carpet that have gone to become trendsetters for the year, to making the right political and social appearance on the highly televised event -- Oscars is one platform no one can or try to ignore for the sake of its assembly every year.

As the world prepares for the 90th Academy Awards on Sunday night, we take a look at what the leading ladies of Hollywood who went on to win the Best Actress award at the gala in this decade, chose to wear while winning the coveted statuette for their best work in the respective year.

Winning actresses and their choice of dress this decade:

Sandra Bullock won for her role in The Blind Side

2010 was all about metallic shimmer as Sandra Bullock opted for a radiant Marchesa gown for the big night. The gown was metallic with sheer bodice and a figure-hugging skirt that had a small train for some panache. Bullock topped the look with some pink on her lips.

Natalie Portman won for her role in Black Swan

In 2011, as Natalie Portman won for her mysterious dark role in Black Swan, she stunned everyone at the red carpet with her choice of a purple gown from the fashion-forward brand, Rodarte. Glowing with pregnancy, Portman’s dress also had an elegant neckline complete with strings of sequence and stones with neatly stitched dress material acting as a crisscross on the front, one that accentuated the growing baby bump. Side swept hair just added to the whole look.
