President Trump had insisted on "denuclearisation" of North Korea as a precondition for talks with North Korean leader Kim.

Ahead of Kim and Trump's summit, North Korea today began the process of dismantling its nuclear sites, the foreign media invited to witness it said.

The destruction of the nuclear sites is taking place in Punggye-ri where North Korea has tested at least six nuclear weapons.

North Korea had declared its intention to dismantle its nuclear arsenal during Kim's meeting with South Korean president Moon.

President Trump had insisted on "denuclearisation" of North Korea as a precondition for talks with North Korean leader Kim.

South Korea Yonhap news agency said multiple explosions were heard throughout the day, beginning at 11am (0300 GMT) until 4.17pm.
