As the coronavirus death toll continued to rise worldwide, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that "we have won the battle against undetected community transmission of coronavirus."

"There is no widespread, undetected community transmission in New Zealand, we have won that battle," Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said.

New Zealand reported just one new coronavirus case in the last 24 hours taking the number of infected cases to  1,122. Nineteen people have died due to COVID-19 in the country.

The government has now decided to open businesses and schools, including takeaway outlets in a bid to start ecomomic activity after over a month of restrictions.

However, Arden said, "I will not risk the gains we've made in the health of New Zealanders. So if we need to remain at Level Three, we will."

The New Zealand prime minister however cautiously added that it was still uncertain when the transmission of the virus can be stopped allowing citizens to return to their normal life again.

Amid the virus last week, New Zealanders stood outside their homes nationwide on Saturday to honour their war dead on Anzac Day as the traditional Remembrance Day was cancelled.

"This year, a new threat faces all nations as the impact of the coronavirus deepens worldwide," Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said, adding,"As we face these significant challenges, we remember the courage of those who have served in the name of peace and justice."

The "stand at dawn" campaign led led several thousand citzens to stand at their gates to remember thier fallen heroes.

"Things are different this year but we are united by our respect for veterans and service personnel," the New Zealand PM said amid the coronavirus crisis.
