A deep offshore earthquake hit Indonesian archipelago late on Friday (Aug 17), according to data from the US Geological Survey.

The 6.6 magnitude quake hit 153 km north-east of Raba at a depth of  564.7 km, it said.

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said in a tweet there was no tsunami risk.

The epicenter of Friday's quake was around 500km from the island of Lombok, where two deadly tremors - and dozens of aftershocks - wreaked widespread damage earlier in the month.

A 7.0 magnitude quake jolted Indonesia's Lombok island on Sunday after it was already hit by a 6.4 quake on July 29 that killed 17 people and briefly stranded several hundred trekkers on the slopes of a volcano.

The death toll of Indonesia' devastating earthquake in its popular holiday destination Lombok island on increased to 436 people as more bodies were recovered from the debris of collapsed buildings and landslides.
