On Mondy, French President Emmanuel Macron urged his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to ensure that Syria respects implementation of the ceasefire accord in Eastern Ghouta.

According to reports, Macron, in a telephonic conversation, asked Putin to take stringent measures to push the Syrian government to implement the UN Security Council Resolution 2401 without any further delay.

The French President also urged Kremlin to assume all its responsibilities to show "full credibility of its commitments," toward the welfare of the war-torn country and help Syria receive access to humanitarian aid in the rebel-held enclave.

On February 24, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution to achieve a 30-day humanitarian ceasefire in Syria in the wake of a deadly Syrian conflict that killed hundreds in Eastern Ghouta.

The offensive was carried out by forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to eliminate Al Qaeda linked groups in rebel-held zones.
