Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Sunday condemned the suicide attacks on churches carried out Islamist militants.

He called the attacks "barbaric" and ordered police to track down the perpetrators.

"I have instructed police to look into and break up networks of perpetrators," said Widodo.

Widodo was speaking at a news briefing and shared that one of the attacks had used two children in the bombing.

A family of six launched suicide attacks on Christians attending Sunday prayers at three churches in Indonesia's second-largest city, Surabaya.

At least 13 people lost their lives while nearly 40 were wounded.

According to the police, the family who carried out the attacks were Islamic sympathizers who had returned from Syria.
