Hong Kong is expected to announce weekend curfew, China state-run Global Times said in a tweet citing unnamed sources.
"#HKSAR government is expected to announce curfew for the weekend," the Global Times said in a post.
Hong Kong witnessed large scale violent protests in its universities as authorities struggled to control the student-led demonstrations.

Earlier in the week, Hong Kong Polytechnic University saw largescale student violence as police opened fire which hit a student who was later sent to a hospital. The government said nearly 70 people were hospitalised on Wednesday as the violence continued unabated.
Protesters have been calling for greater accountability from the Hong Kong government and steps to be taken towards police reforms.
There were clashes between students and authorities throughout the week as protesters set up barricades and students set up blockades of major roads, including the entrance to the cross-harbour tunnel that links Hong Kong island to the Kowloon area.
Police fired tear gas near the tunnel early on Thursday to try to clear the protesters. Several students barricaded themselves inside campuses and hurled petrol bombs as police tried to take control.
Students wearing facemasks clashed in various parts of the city as riot police confronted them at various points.
Amid the crisis, Carrie Lam met senior officials late on Wednesday, local media reported. Lam had said earlier in the week that protesters in the city were "selfish" and were now the enemy of the people.
