Google today is celebrating the 91st birth anniversary of celebrated Colombian writer Gabriel Gracia Marquez. Born in Aracataca, Colombia, Marquez is identified as one of the most notable writers of the 20th century and among the forerunners of the Magic Realism style of writing.
In 1982, Marquez received the Nobel Prize in Literature. Apart from deploying the technique of Magic Realism in his work, Marquez is also known to explore solitude as the central theme in most of his works.
Love in the Time of Cholera, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Chronicles of a Death Foretold are some of his highly acclaimed works.
Gabriel Marquez left behind a wide expanse of novellas, short stories, novels on 17 April 2014 when he died of pneumonia at the age of 87.
