Google and Apple sued by Ubisoft for selling a copied game

Area F2, developed by Ejoy and Qookka Games, a game that has been gaining quite a lot of attention recently has landed itself into trouble.

The game is allegedly a copy of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, developed by Ubisoft Montreal. Following this allegation, Ubisoft asked Google and Apple to remove Area F2 from their respective online stores.

However, Apple and Google have denied the request. Ubisoft, in return, has filed a lawsuit against both the companies in Los Angeles.

Ubisoft claims that the two companies are selling a product that violates the copyright laws of Rainbow Six Siege. While the allegation hasn't been proved yet, it will be illegal if Ubisoft proves that the game has been copied. Ubisoft claims that the game has copied “virtually every aspect” of Rainbow Six Siege, and is taking undue advantage of their game.

The players and customers, too, have managed to spot various similarities between the two games online. 

A lot of questions have now been raised about this lawsuit. Interestingly, Ubisoft has filed a lawsuit against the two companies hosting the games on their platforms, but not against the developers and owners of the game. If proven wrong, Apple and Google will lose all earning rights and money from this game. The developers, Ejoy and Qookka Games, on the other hand will only have to pay the copyright fee.
