Story highlights

It was the second appearance Cohen has cancelled before Congress.

Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen delayed his closed-door testimony planned for Friday before the US House Intelligence Committee, the panel said in a statement on Wednesday.

It was the second appearance Cohen has cancelled before Congress.

Last month, he postponed a public congressional hearing, citing threats from Trump, before later agreeing to testify behind closed doors.

Last year in December Cohen claimed that Trump was aware that the hush money payments were wrong.

News agency AFP quoted Cohen as saying, "Trump knew hush-money payments were wrong".

Michael Cohen has been sentenced to three years in jail for his role in the payment of hush money to women who said they had affairs with Trump and for lying to Congress about a proposed Trump Tower project in Russia discussed during the 2016 election campaign.
