Facebook plans to shift to work-from-home; lesser salary packages expected

As majority companies shifted to work from home during the worldwide lockdown, Facebook is hoping to continue this new policy.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, recently announced that he is hoping that in the next 10 years, almost 50 per cent employees will be working from outside Facebook's offices.
While this 'work-from-home' policy can bring joy for the employees, like every good news, this too comes with a catch.
"We pay very well, basically at the top of the market, but we pay a market rate. And that varies by location, so we're going to continue that principle here," the CEO said.
While the social media giant will be saving on food, electricity and on-campus facilities, providing the required equipment to the employees can cost the company a lot.
However, it has not been made clear as to what effect will this decision have on the company's finances, and on employee packages.
Zuckerberg, however, stated he is sure that 60 per cent of the employees would prefer a flexible work environment, and 50 per cent of these would like to shift to some other city, if given a chance.
This can also be because if the company shifts to work-from-home and initiates lesser salary packages for employees, then the employees residing in the expensive areas might want to shift to a more affordable place.
Facebook will also start remote-hiring, which is being speculated to be the largest remote hiring till now.
Earlier, Twitter and Microsoft too had announced that they will let the employees work from home till further notice.
