'The Post' actress Meryl Streep to star in 'Big Little Lies' season 2

All seems to be going too well for HBO's hit TV series "Big Little Lies" as "The Post" actress Meryl Streep announces to join the second season of the much-awarded series. 

Joining the already celebrated cast of the TV series, Streep will play Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgard).

Mary Louise Wright is described as a woman who is concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren following her son Perry's death. She arrives in the city of Monterey searching for answers to a lot of these unanswered questions. 

What was earlier announced to be a limited-series is now a full-fledged show with HBO announcing after Golden Globes 2018 run that "Big Little Lies" will return for a second season with most of the main cast returning from season one. 

Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon will again executive produce in addition to starring.

The first season was based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, while season two is based partially on a new story by the author.

Andrea Arnold will direct all seven episodes of the new season.

"Big Little Lies" premiered on HBO in early 2017 and went on to win eight Primetime Emmy Awards, Golden Globe for mini-series and several acting-related categories, Screen Actors Guild Award for acting and others.
