Rihanna's cousin shot dead; singer calls for end to gun crime

Pop star Rihanna suffered a heartbreak on December 27 when she received news of sudden death of her cousin brother. 

A day after she celebrated Christmas with her cousin Tavon Kaiseen Alleyn in Barbados, she received the shocking news of his death on Boxing Day. 

As a tribute to Tavon, Rihanna posted a photo with him captioned: "RIP cousin... can't believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man! ??????? #endgunviolence".

There is no clarity to his nature of death but it was reported in a local channel that 21-year-old Tavon ‘was walking through a track in the area of his house when he was approached by a man who shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene’.

The incident reportedly took place around 7pm on 26 December in St Michael. 

Rihanna shared Instagram stories calling for an end to gun crime. 

A woman named Tanella also shared a picture of Tavon in a hospital bed, and admitted she "never thought the day would come that I would have to bury you my love’. ‘This was our first Christmas together we clean we decorate and everything!! Tavon I know you was trying to be a better person!! I loveee you soooo muchhhhhhhhh brother omg! (sic)."
