There’s nothing stopping the recently released Marvel superhero film Avengers: Infinity War from ruling the global box office. Crossing the $1 billion at the global box office during the weekend, the film hit the feat in just 11 days, creating another record. It has now become the fifteenth highest-grossing film of all-time including new highs achieved at the Indian box office.

Over the weekend, Infinity War earned $112.4 million (about Rs. 753.69 crores) in the US, making it the biggest second weekend ever for any film after Star Wars: The Force Awakens' $149.2 million. The film has now collected about $450.8 million (about Rs. 3,023 crores) after ten days.

Meanwhile, the numbers in India are quite high for any Hollywood film as the film grossed Rs. 9.19 crore on Friday, Rs. 13.5 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 16.72 crore on Sunday, bringing its India total to Rs. 240.23 crore ($35.7 million) in just two weeks.

This now pushes Infinity War closer to the record-holder film --2016's The Jungle Book. Both the films are incidentally Disney productions. The first is Marvel-Disney while the latter is solely Disney. Also Read: 'Avengers Infinity War' beats 'Padmaavat' with Rs 120 crore collection in first three days

For the makers, the film has proved to go beyond being just successful as it has raised parameters of success for any superheroes-driven film.

The global total for Avengers: Infinity War is at $1.164 billion (about Rs. 7,805 crores), becoming the sixth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to cross the $1-billion threshold. It's now only marginally behind Iron Man 3 ($1.214 billion), followed by Black Panther ($1.338 billion), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.405 billion), and The Avengers ($1.518 billion).
