Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio is due to meet President Barack Obama today at a festival on the White House lawn to discuss climate change before the screening of the actor's new documentary on global warming.

DiCaprio will meet with Obama and scientist Katharine Hayhoe, an atmospheric science professor at Texas Tech University.

The festival, inspired by the South by Southwest model, held annually in Austin, Texas, will be a blend of new technologies, movies and music.

The meeting will take place as a part of the festival.

Almost a decade now since his first documentary about climate challenge, entitled "The 11th Hour", the actor and producer is now promoting "Before The Flood" in which Obama and Pope Francis make a brief appearance.

Two years ago, DiCaprio was designated a UN messenger of peace, with a special focus on climate change.
