Defying the odds and kindling hopes are some oldest Covid-19 survivors, amidst the darkest time

As everyone is fighting a war against Covid19 pandemic, that proves fatal for elderly people, who are considered more vulnerable to the contagion, there are some stories of hope around the world of such survivors that have kindled hope among many anxious and fearful people.

There is still hope around the corner and these extraordinary cases of recovery remind of the light at the end of the tunnel.

Here are some surprising numbers of survivors who had defied the odds.

97-year-old World War II survivor, survives COVID-19- Tony Vaccaro has survived an abusive childhood as an orphan during the Depression, the devastating Battle of Normandy as a GI during World War II, and a potentially lethal bout with the COVID-19 virus this April, at the age of 97.

WWII vet, aged 99, survives coronavirus in Brazil - World War Two veteran Ermando Piveta, aged 99, became the oldest Brazilian to recover from the coronavirus on (April 14).He tested positive for the coronavirus two weeks ago and spent two days in the hospital's intensive care ward after he developed pneumonia.

106-year-old Brit beats virus- At 106, Connie Titchen ,the former department store sales assistant is Britain’s oldest known survivor of COVID-19.Titchen was applauded by staff at Birmingham’s City Hospital, leaving after three weeks as a patient. She was admitted to City Hospital in mid-March with suspected pneumonia and diagnosed with COVID-19 soon afterwards.

100-year-old Russian beats coronavirus-Russia celebrates a rare bit of good news as a 100-year-old woman leaves a Moscow hospital after fully recovering from the coronavirus. In the country's first reported case of a survivor that old, the woman, Pelageya Poyarkova, was discharged on her 100th birthday, the Moscow clinic treating her says.
