Coronavirus: US reports 734 deaths in past 24 hours; death toll stands at 115,347

US continues to report around 20,000 cases every day bringing the tally to 2,071,782 at 8:30 pm Saturday (0030 GMT Sunday), a tracker maintained by the Baltimore-based university showed. 

The United States has reported 734 deaths in the last 24 hours bringing the total death toll to 115,436, according to John Hopkins University. 

US continues to report around 20,000 cases every day bringing the tally to 2,071,782 at 8:30 pm Saturday (0030 GMT Sunday), a tracker maintained by the Baltimore-based university showed. 

"It's important that we remember that this situation is unprecedented. And that the pandemic has not ended," Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Friday.

President Donald Trump's administration allows that there are new flare-ups in coronavirus caseloads in some states but insists there will be no shutdown of the economy if a second full-blown wave arises.

The United States continues to be the worst-hit countries in terms of both, cases and deaths due to coronavirus.
