Manipur woman tests corona positive, first in northeast India
Manipur reported its first case of coronavirus as a 23-year-old woman who returned from the United Kingdom tested positive, making it the first case in the northeast, an official said on Tuesday.
According to the officials of Manipur' s Health and Family Welfare Department, the woman is now undergoing treatment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal.

Europe has recorded 9,197 fatalities
A total of 15,189 deaths have been recorded, the majority in Europe with 9,197 fatalities. Italy is the hardest-hit country with 5,476 deaths, followed by China where the virus first emerged last year with 3,270, and Spain with 2,182. With a total of 1,395 new deaths reported in the past 24 hours out of 172,238 officially declared cases, Europe is now the continent where the virus is spreading the most rapidly.
Indian authority permits Mahan Airways (Iranian airline) to evacuate around 600 Indians from Iran on 24th and 28th March. All these Indian nationals have tested negative for Coronavirus.
Government of India will shut down its domestic flight operations from March 25 as it looks to cut interstate movement and curb the spread of Covid-19. The order by the aviation ministry will come into effect from the midnight of March 24. Airlines have to plan operations in a way that they land at their destination before 11:59 pm on March 24, 2020, the ministry said.
A complete lockdown has been announced in 19 states and union territories. In six other states and union territories, only some areas have been kept under lockdown, says Lav Agarwal.

Lockdowns will be enabled in places both having deaths and positive cases, says Lav Agarwal of health ministry
"We have conducted 15,000-17,000 tests so far. We have the capacity to conduct 10,000 tests per day, it means we can conduct 50,000-70,000 per week", says Balram Bhargava of Indian Council of Medical Research during the press briefing.
During a lockdown, services including, hospitals and pharmacies, groceries/fruit/veg shops milk supply booths, cooking gas supplies, bank/ATMs, telecom services, limited public transport will remain active.
Section 144 of CrPC to be imposed in Delhi over rapidly spreading coronavirus.
It will stay in effect from 9 pm on March 22 to 12 midnight of March 31.
Meanwhile, 75 Indian districts which reported COVID-19 cases will be under lockdown.
To break the chain of transmission, the easiest method is to isolate the people coming from outside. The virus is not present in the air, it can be transmitted through droplets released, says Indian Council of Medical Research Director-General Balram Bhargava in a press conference.

The coronavirus death toll in Spain rose to 1,002 on Friday after another 235 people died in the past 24 hours, the health ministry said.
The number of cases also soared to 19,980 after another 2,833 infections were confirmed over the same period, the ministry's emergencies coordinator Fernando Simon said.
10,080 deaths have been reported, most of them in Europe (4,932) and Asia (3,431). Italy is the worst affected country with 3,405 fatalities, followed by China with 3,248, the initial epicentre of the outbreak, and Iran with 1,433.

Italy reports 475 new virus deaths, highest one-day toll of any nation
Italy on Wednesday reported 475 new deaths from the novel coronavirus, the highest one-day official toll of any nation since the first case was detected in China late last year.
Total deaths in Italy have reached 2,978, more than half of all the cases recorded outside China, while the number of infections reached 35,713.
The previous record high of 368 deaths was also recorded in Italy, on Sunday.
Covid-19 cases reach 250 in Pakistan
With fresh cases being reported from Sindh, Islamabad and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan rose to 250 on Wednesday. The Sindh province is the worst-hit with 181 cases, followed by 26 in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa reported 19 cases, Islamabad eight, Gilgit-Baltistan three, the Express Tribune reported.

The global death toll from the new coronavirus pandemic topped 8,000 on Wednesday, according to an AFP tally based on official figures.

276 Indians, including 255 in Iran, infected with coronavirus abroad: MEA
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said the total number of Indians infected by coronavirus is 276 -- 255 in Iran, 12 in UAE, five in Italy, and one each in Hong Kong, Kuwait, Rwanda and Sri Lanka.
A fourth batch of 53 Indians returned to India from Iran on Monday, taking the total number of people evacuated from the coronavirus-hit country to 389.
Iran is one of the worst-affected countries by the coronavirus outbreak and the government has been working to bring back Indians stranded there. Over 700 people have died from the disease in Iran and nearly 14,000 cases detected.
India has been taking strict precautionary measures to keep the spread of COVID-19 in the country in check, in the wake of the WHO declaring it as a pandemic.

Noida man tests positive for coronavirus, India total climbs to 69
A 35-year-old man from Noida has been infected with the coronavirus and is undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital, according to the Health Department.
The Noida resident works as a guide and was in contact with tourists from Italy visiting Agra and Jaipur.

Nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country on Tuesday, taking the total number to 56. Six of the cases are from Kerala and the other three from Karnataka.

Covid-19: Schools in Leh to remain closed till March 31
As a precautionary measure, all schools in Leh district will remain closed till March 31 amid coronavirus outbreak, informed the District Administration on Sunday.As of now, at least 39 positive confirmed cases of novel coronavirus have been detected in India. Qatar bans arrivals from 14 countries over coronavirus fears
Qatar has temporarily barred travellers from 14 countries from March 9 as a precaution against the rapidly spreading coronavirus, the government announced on Sunday.
The ban covers China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria and Thailand.
Qatar Airways had already suspended flights to and from Italy.Qatar reported three more cases of the virus on Sunday, bringing the total there to 15.

Amazon confirms first coronavirus case among US employees
Online retailer Amazon.com Inc said on Tuesday an employee in the United States tested positive for the coronavirus.
"We`re supporting the affected employee who is in quarantine," a company spokeswoman said in an email to Reuters.
The spokeswoman confirmed a report by Bloomberg News that all co-workers in contact with the employee, who worked at Amazon`s South Lake Union office complex in Seattle, had been informed.
The company said on Sunday two employees in Milan, Italy, had been infected with the virus and were under quarantine.

Coronavirus scare hits Noida school: Premises closed, all exams cancelled
A private school in Noida has been shut after it was reported that one of the parents of the student tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.
Health authorities are conducting the necessary medical checks at the school premises and school management has cancelled all the exams except boards.
