A Chinese national has been reportedly detained for opening the emergency exit of the plane that was about to take off.

Chen, 25-year-old, said that he opened the door after he felt "too hot".

He added that he was not aware that the handle was part of the emergency exit door.

Chen said, "Because it was so stuffy, so hot on the plane, I just pushed down on the window handle beside me. When the door fell out, I panicked".

The entire "wall" collapsed and an emergency slide was deployed as he tried opening the door.

The Chinese authorities have detained Chen for 15 days. He is also expected to pay a fine of ¥70,000 for the airlines costs.
