China slammed the World Health Organization's (WHO) second-stage plan to investigate the origins of COVID-19, calling it "a product of political manipulation."

COVID-19 has had a huge effect on people's lives and livelihoods all across the world.

More than 4 million people have died as a result of the virus, which has also infected 193 million others around the world.

During the same time period, more than 610,000 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the United States.

The pandemic has also wreaked havoc on the global economy.

Its consequences include a steep drop in global gross domestic product and a significant decline in global trade in 2020.
