Coronavirus: China toll climbs to 304; Philippines becomes first country outside China to report first death

The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in China had reached 304 as of the end of Saturday, state broadcaster CCTV said on Sunday, citing the country's National Health Commission.

Meanwhile, the Philippines becomes the first country outside China to report the first death due to the virus.

The Philippines has confirmed its first death from coronavirus. The World Health Organisation (WHO) says that this is the first nCoV fatality outside of china.

The death toll from the virus in China itself has risen to 304 with nearly 14-thousand-300-hundred confirmed cases globally.

The virus has spread to nearly 25 countries. The city of Huanggang in China's Hubei province has reported 726 confirmed novel coronavirus cases. 

Wuhan, the epicentre of the virus, is also in the same city.

China continues to race against time to build two hospitals for coronavirus patients in Wuhan.

One of the hospitals is scheduled to open on February 3 while the other is expected to be ready by February 5.
