A major fire broke out in a three storey building in Qingyuan city in China on Tuesday.

At least 18 people are reported to be killed and five people are injured.

Blaze reportedly started around midnight. Rescuers were sent to the area immediately.

The official news agency XInhua says that the fire occurred in KTV house or a karaoke lounge in the building.

The fire was put out at 12:55 am and injured people has also been taken to the hospital.

According to media reports, the fire could be caused by arson.

Local police have initiated their investigation into the matter.

Fire incidents are very common in China as experts reportedly say that the country has poorly designed fire exits.

It also lacks proper fire, electricity management and an emergency response system.
