The commander of the US-led coalition in Iraq has said that the ongoing campaign against the Islamic State militants in Mosul has gained momentum.

US army Lieutenant-General Steve Townsend has also said that the coordination between the Iraqi army and the security forces was largely absent in the first two months of the campaign, Reuters reported.

Lack of coordination between the Iraq army and the security forces was one of the reason that the campaign had stalled last month.

A decisive victory in Mosul will be the final nail in the coffin for the so-called Islamic Caliphate.
