California legalises marijuana from January 1
Unites State's California has joined growing list of states legalising Marijuana. The drug got legalised for recreational use as it has been legal for medical purposes for a long time.
According to reports about 90 businesses have received the state license to sell Marijuana from New Year's day.
Minimum age of Marijuana consumption has been set at 21.
However, individuals can grow up to six plants at their home and posses only an ounce of the drug.
Weed is banned in California since 1913 and pot advocacy group known as National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws has been working since then to make it legal for recreational purposes.
The voters of California voted in favour of its legalization in November.
People on Twitter expressed their joy as they couldn't have asked for a better on New year day.
Welcome to legal weed, California. You will, no doubt, make us all raise our game. Congratulations to the original American hippies.
