Britain's AstraZeneca ties up with two companies to provide two billion doses

Britain's pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca will be able to deliver nearly 2 billion doses of the coronavirus vaccine if they succeed in making one. These figures are double the previous claims because of deals with the Serum Institute of India and two Bill Gates-backed global health organisations.

Serum Institute of India is the world's largest manufacturers of vaccines in terms of volume. 

AstraZeneca has already promised 400 million doses to the United States and Britain and on Thursday they agreed to terms with the Indian company to supply one billion doses to low and middle-income countries.

The British-based pharmaceutical company's tie-up with Oxford University has gathered attention as one of the leading candidates to make a coronavirus vaccine. The US government has funded  $1 billion for its work. 

The company will produce an additional 300 million doses after a $750 million agreement was signed with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations and GAVI vaccines alliance, both founded by Microsoft-founder Gates and his wife.
