Brexit row: Britain's Conservative party lawmakers trigger no-confidence vote against PM Theresa May

Just days after British PM Theresa May postponed voting on Brexit in Parliament, Graham Brady, chairman of Britain's Conservative party's 1922 backbench committee said today that threshold of 48 letters were received by him from party members triggering a no-confidence vote against the prime minister.

PM May was due to hold the vote on Tuesday in Parliament on Brexit, but on Monday she announced that she had deferred it in order to seek extra reassurances from the European Union to make sure it goes through the British parliament.

The no-confidence vote is due to take place between 6pm or 8pm tonight.

European Union(EU) had said it won't renegotiate the terms of the Brexit deal. PM Thresa May is chasing a Brexit deal of March 29th next year to ensure the UK pulls out of the European on time.

The European Court of Justice had ruled earlier that Britain has the unilateral right to withdraw its plan to leave the European Union if it decides before Brexit day at the end of March.

Theresa May had warned earlier that Parliament's rejection of her Brexit deal could leave Britain in the European Union and bring the opposition Labour Party to power.

May had said Britain "would truly be in uncharted waters" if the Brexit deal did not go through in Parliament. May had rejected the idea of putting the brakes on Brexit and had ruled out a revote.

Britain had voted 52 per cent in favour of leaving the European Union in June, 2016 which is the world's largest single market.
