Boris Johnson says doctors had contingency plans ready if he died of coronavirus

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson in an interview said that the doctors had a contingency plan ready when his health started getting worsening because of the novel coronavirus. 

"It was a tough old moment, I won't deny it," Johnson said in an interview to the Sun.

"They had a strategy to deal with a 'death of Stalin'-type scenario."

"I was not in particularly brilliant shape and I was aware there were contingency plans in place. The doctors had all sorts of arrangements for what to do if things went badly wrong."

The British PM first announced he had contracted COVID-19 on March 27 but insisted he had only mild symptoms. However, later he was shited to London's St Thomas' Hospital where he received oxygen treatment and admitted for three nights in intensive care.

Johnson, who was discharged on April 12 also said that his battle with COVID-19 "could have gone either way".

Johnson, who returned to work last Monday after a successful recovery from coronavirus has something more to cheer about when he became a father again as his fiancee Carrie Symonds gave birth on Wednesday. 

The couple announced the name of their child Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas, partly as a tribute to the two infectious disease experts who are responsible for Johnson's treatment.
