More than 70 people were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in the southern Spanish city of Malaga, officials said on Saturday.

Four of the injured are critical, according to a BBC report.

The blast took place in a cafe called La Bohemia in the town of Velez-Malaga during a local festival.

The spokesman said the explosion occurred at about 1700 GMT, which is 40 km east of Malaga.

Local newspaper La Opinion de Malaga said that the chef had raised the alarm moments before the blast.
