Audi CEO arrested in alleged manipulation of emissions controls
The German authorities have detained the chief executive of Volkswagen’s Audi division, Rupert Stadler, on Monday.
Stadler has been detained in connection to the ongoing investigation into alleged manipulation of emissions controls.
A spokesman for parent company Volkswagen has said that the hearing to determine whether he will be remanded is ongoing.
"We confirm that Mr Stadler was arrested this morning. The hearing to determine whether he will be remanded is ongoing," Volkswagen spokesman said, adding that the presumption of innocence applied to Stadler's case, AFP reported.
