Africa's tallest building is coming up in Kenya. How does it compare to the world's tallest?

The foundation stone was laid this week in Nairobi, Kenya for what could be Africa's tallest building. The Pinnacle Towers, when completed, will stand 300 metres tall, 77 metres more than the current record holder -- the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.

But how will the Pinnacle Towers compare to the world's tallest buildings?

From the chart above, we see that the Pinnacle Towers will be just a third of the height of the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. There is an even taller building under construction in the Persian Gulf, the 1000-metre-tall Jeddah Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which will be completed by 2020.

The tallest building in South Asia at present is the 256-metre-tall Imperial 1 building in Mumbai, India. This will soon be displaced by the 442-metre-tall World One building under construction in the same city.
