Pictures of a mongrel ‘Xiao Bao’ waiting for his master in the Wuhan hospital are making rounds on the social media. The dog has been waiting for his master in the hospital lobby for the last three months. Unfortunately, his owner died five days after being admitted to the hospital and Xiao Bao is unaware of it.
The staff of Wuhan Taikang Hospital had been taking care of the dog and were feeding him but now the dog has been shifted to a dog shelter, as per DailyMail report.
The dog was named and fed by Wu Cuifen, a shopkeeper and a hospital employee. He said: “I first noticed the little dog when I returned to work in the middle of April. I called him ‘Xiao Bao’. That’s the name I gave him,” The Metro reported.
The dog refused to leave hospital premises and would return if left in a different location. He was eventually left at the dog shelter after hospital authorities contacted Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association, where he was treated and sterilised.
Netizens have been reminded of Hachiko, a Japanese dog who waited for his master on the station for nine years unaware of its master's death. The photos of the dog have made them emotional, they hoped for the dog's safety.
⭕️ Remember the #film: "Hachi" which was based on the true story about a loyal dog in Japan, Hachiko, who would wait at the train station every day for his owner to arrive even after the owner passed away.
